The Lafarge-Wapco has been rated among the top three contributors to the mining industry’s social expenditure in 2020 with N1.26 billion.
This is contained in a statement by Mrs. Ginikanwa Frank-Durugbor, the Head, of Corporate Communications, on Monday in Lagos.
Frank-Durugbor said that the rating was documented in the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) latest report on the Nigerian mining industry.
She said that Dangote during the period paid N2.18 billion, representing 56.36 percent trailed by Lafarge-Wapco with N1.26 billion, while First Patriots paid N219.9 million.
According to her, the NEITI report listed Dangote Plc, Lafarge-Wapco, and First Patriots as the three out of the 29 entities that submitted their social spending during the period under review.
She said that the top three companies accounted for 94.6 percent of the total N3.89 billion social expenditure in the mining sector in 2020.
Frank-Durugbor added that Lafarge-Wapco's contribution represented 32.57 percent of the entire contribution to the mining industry’s social expenditure in 2020.
