Normalcy has returned to Karu, a suburb area of Abuja following a violent protest staged by Okada riders in the area.
Timeline gathered that the protest which started in the early hours of Sunday lingered till afternoon.
The Okada riders reportedly blocked roads to protest against the killing of one of their colleagues.
As the protest turned violent, churches in their area locked their gates and asked their members to remain inside so as not to be attacked.
Residents of Karu, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi among other towns trapped in the area were asked to keep off the route until normalcy was restored.
Also people coming into Karu from the city center were advised to keep off the area as there are no alternative rout to access the satellite town.
It took heavy deployment of joint security operatives who dispersed the protesters before normalcy returned in the area located within Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).
Confirming the development to newsmen, the public relations officer officer for the FCT police command said the protesters were protesting the killing of one of their members by an unknown gunman.
She also said the police working in conjunction with the military were Donny everything possible to restore normalcy.
