Kwara says the Federal Government has promised to quickly repair the Kuyi Bridge in the Pategi area of the state which caved into torrential rains and flood on Tuesday.

The deputy governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi, made the declaration on behalf of Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in Ilorin on Tuesday.

He said in a statement issued by his media aide, Mrs. Modupe Joel, that the state government got the assurance when it reported the tragedy to the appropriate Federal Government authorities.

He added that the assurance came because of the recognition of the economic importance of the bridge to the Pategi community and to Kwara.

“Immediate contact was made to the right channels and they promised to send in a contractor for immediate action,’’ Joel quoted the deputy governor as saying.
