The Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD), Mr. James Lalu, has restated the Commission’s commitment to take Persons with Disabilities (PWD) out of all facets of neglect and abandonment.
Lalu made the assertion when he played host to a team from Multi-Link Vanguard, a coalition of PWDs, who came to identify with the Commission and seek areas of collaboration.
This is contained in a statement by the Head of Press and Public Relations in the commission, Mr. Johnmichaels Mbanefo, on Thursday in Abuja.
“Inclusion is the hallmark, and we must make sure that all groups of PWDs are on the same page in order to achieve our common goal.
“We are all goaltenders of inclusive government and must not concede any loophole” Lalu stressed.
Lalu further promised to employ the services and expertise of the group during the forthcoming Disability Summit which is slated to take place later in 2022.
He said that the Summit would attract personalities from all walks of life and promised to accomplish a lot, which would prosper the cause of PWDs in Nigeria.

Responding, the Spokesman of the group, Mr. Ukange Sebastian, said that the achievements of the commission within the short time of its establishment were laudable.
He further stated that their mission to the commission was to show appreciation to the Executive Secretary for his dogged feat.
“We thank you for your gallant feats at repositioning the status and functionality of the disabled community in Nigeria with efficient and selfless management of the affairs and the mandate of the commission in spite of constraints that come with the job.”
The highlights of the visit were the decoration of Lalu with the group’s emblem and the presentation of the books published by the group on the way forward on disability inclusion.
Lalu promised that the books would be reviewed by the commission and made available to the public.
