The Federal Ministry of Works and Housing has urged motorists travelling to the Northern part of the country from South or East to steer clear of the Lokoja-Abuja dual carriageway for now.

The Federal Controller of Works in Kogi, Engr Jimoh Kajogbola, gave the advice in a statement where he urged motorists to use alternative routes.

Due to the flooding in the country, River Niger has overflowed the Lokoja-Abuja dual carriageway at Koton-Karfe and rendered it dangerous to road users.

The Federal Controller of Works asked motorists to continue using alternative roads pending the time the water level recedes.

He stated further that the advice equally applies to South-South, South- East and South-West bound motorists from the Northern part of the Nigeria.

He advised them to take Abuja-Lafia-Makurdi-Otukpa road or Abuja-Bida-Mokwa-Jebba road, pending the time that the water will subside at Koton-Karfe end of Kogi state.
