The Kwara Government is set to challenge Delta for a top-place finish at the end of the forthcoming 21st National Sports Festival, tagged Asaba 2022.

Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq said this on Thursday in Ilorin after receiving the festival’s Torch of Unity.

Represented by his deputy, Mr. Kayode Alabi, the governor promised to give the state all necessary support to ensure it performed excellently at the end of the games bid for Asaba, from Nov. 28 to Dec. 10.

“We know Delta State is always winning the festival, but we will make them come second this time around.

“Sport is a unifying factor and we want to ensure we give the necessary attention to it to gainfully engage our teeming youths,” AbdulRazaq said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Torch of Unity arrived at Kwara at 3.30 p.m from Minna on Thursday.

AbdulRazaq was joined at a brief ceremony in front of the Government House by the Executive Chairman of Kwara State Sports Commission, Malam Bola Mogaji, some of his board members, and the state athletes to receive the Torch of Unity.
