The Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) on Wednesday dismissed any plan to implement a five percent tax on tuition fees as being circulated on social media.

KADIRS Head of Corporate Communication, Mr. Zakari Mohammed, in a statement in Kaduna, urged members of the public to regard the information as fake.

“The public is hereby notified that the said article is not from KADIRS.

“The service, therefore, urges the public to disregard such information as it’s fake and a blatant lie,” Mohammed said.

He added that the KADIRS had no plan of implementing any five percent tax on tuition fees.

He called on the public to consider the misinformation as the work of mischief makers and saboteurs.

According to him, the mischief makers and saboteurs are only out to smear the progress achieved by the state government through the revenue service in deepening voluntary tax compliance in the state.
