The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted dust haze and cloudiness from Friday to Sunday across the country.

NiMet’s weather outlook released on Thursday in Abuja envisaged a slight dust haze over the northern region on Friday throughout the forecast period.

According to it, the North Central region should also be in slight dust haze during the forecast period.

“However, a Sunny atmosphere with few patches of cloud is expected over the inland cities of the South, while cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine are anticipated over the coast.

“Later in the day, few thunderstorms are expected over parts of Akwa Ibom and Cross River States,” it said.

NiMet forecasts slight dust haze over the North and the North Central region on Saturday within the forecast period.

It, however, anticipated a sunny atmosphere with few patches of cloud to prevail over the inland cities of the South, while cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine are anticipated over the coast.

According to it, pockets of thunderstorms are expected over parts of Edo, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River States later in the day.

“For Sunday, the northern region should be in slight dust haze condition during the forecast period. Slight dust haze condition is also expected over the North Central region throughout the forecast period.

“The southern region is expected to be cloudy with intervals of sunshine and prospects of morning thunderstorms over
parts of Lagos,” it said.

The agency predicted isolated thunderstorms over parts of Edo, Lagos, Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Cross Rivers, and Rivers States later in the day.

NiMet, therefore, advised the public to take necessary precautions against dust particles that could be in suspension.

“People with asthma and other respiratory issues should be cautious of the present weather situations.

“Night-time cold temperatures should be expected. Airline operators are advised to get updated weather reports from NiMet for effective planning in their operations,” it said.
