The new Commander, Corps of Signals, Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Garba Abdullahi, on Wednesday, charged personnel of the corps to work harder for more productive results in 2023.

Abdullahi said this as he officially took over the command from Maj.-Gen. Abiodun Owolabi at the Headquarters, Nigerian Army Signals, Apapa.

Abdullahi was the Deputy Chief of Defence, Space Administration at the Defence Space Agency.

Also, Owolabi has been redeployed to Headquarters, Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, Giri, as the Dean, of the Faculty of Future Casting.

The new Commander sought the cooperation of officers and soldiers, noting that collectively they would surmount the challenges ahead.

“It is an honour and privilege to be appointed as the Commander of the Nigerian Army Signals Corps, which is a pinnacle of any officer’s career in the corps.

“I am not unmindful of the challenges inherent in command responsibilities and I believe that with collective efforts, we will be able to surmount whatever challenges in the cause of our duties,” he said.

Abdullahi said that officers and soldiers should be ready to work to ensure that the standard does not go below what he met on the ground.

“I will operate an open door policy and welcome meaningful ideas to attain the Chief of Army Staff’s vision, Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, for the Nigerian Army.

“Yahaya’s vision is to have “A professional Nigerian Army ready to accomplish the assigned mission within a Joint Environment in Defence of Nigeria,” he said.

Meanwhile, Owolabi expressed satisfaction at the successes recorded during his tenure as the Commander, of the Corps of Signals.

He said that his tenure witnessed a lot of infrastructure development all over the Command’s Area of Responsibility.
