The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has commenced the sensitisation of the populace on the Plateau to the need to deposit their old Naira notes before it ceases to be legal tender on Jan. 31.
The State director of NOA in Plateau, Mrs Kaneng Pam – Hworo, who led the awareness campaign in Jos metropolis on Wednesday, said the aim of the exercise was to inform the public to deposit their old N1000, N 500 and N 200 during the transition period before its expiration on Jan.31 to get the redesigned notes.
She further said that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had suspended the charges on bank deposits till Jan.31, to enable customers to make their deposits.
She said that their wouldn’t be an extension and advised that citizens make deposits of the N1000, N500and N200 banknotes in their possession .
“For now we haven’t been told about any extension,” she said.
She said that the redesigned notes had a change in colour .

Pam-Hworo, who took the awareness campaign to the Palace of the Ujah Anaguta, Pozoh Johnson Magaji, appealed to him, to sensitise his subjects about the redesigned notes.
She further appealed to him to talk to his subjects who were yet to get their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs), to do so.
Ujah Anaguta commended the Federal Government for its various policies, but said the redesigned notes were not readily available.
He assured NOA of his unflinching support in disseminating salient information to his subjects.
Members of the public, who spoke with NAN, said that the redesigned notes were scarce in circulation and asked the CBN to extend its deadline.
