An Area Court sitting in Jos on Friday sentenced a 25-year-old man, Golis Isaac to four months in prison for stealing 25 litres of diesel.

The Magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced Isaac after he pleaded guilty to the offence.
Bokkos, however, gave him an option of a fine in the sum of N10,000.
Bokkos also ordered the convict to pay N23,000 as compensation to the complainant, Isaac Abbas or spend another month in default in prison.
He said the judgement would serve as a deterrent to those who would want to indulge in such a criminal act.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Ahmed Labaran told the court that the case was reported on Jan. 24 at the Rantya Police Station by Abbas.
The prosecutor said that the convict trespassed into the MTN mask site and stole 25 litres of diesel valued at N23,000.
The prosecutor said the offence was contrary to Sections 333 and 272 of the Penal Code.
