Man, 23, remanded in prison for stealing boat engine

 

A Badagry Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, on Thursday ordered that a 23-year-old man, Tunde Kuton, who pleaded guilty to stealing a boat engine, be remanded in prison pending sentencing.
 
Chief Magistrate Fadahunsi Adefioye ordered that Kuton, whose address was unknown, be remanded in Awhajigoh Correctional Centre, Badagry, till March 13, for review of the facts of the case and sentencing.
 
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, ASP. Clément Okuoimose, told the court that Kuton committed the offence on Feb. 25 at about 5:00 a.m at Idale Waterside in Badagry.
 
He said that Kuton stole one Suzuki 9.9 Outboard boat engine valued at N300,000, property of one Ezun Sedoto, the complainant.
 
Okuoimose said the defendant also stole one Infinix hot 8 android phone on Feb. 22, at about 8:00a.m at Badagry roundabout, belonging to one Monday Kojo.
 
The offences, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
 
Stealing attracts three years’ imprisonment.
