The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it is deepening its anti-corruption crusade on tertiary campuses to better the society.

The Ilorin Zonal Commander of the EFCC, Mr Michael Nzekwe, made this known on Friday in Ilorin while hosting a student body.

He said that the command was ready to work with student bodies and relevant stakeholders in fighting corruption in schools and and higher institutions in Kwara.

Nzekwe hosted a delegation of Unilorin Independent Students’ Anti-Corrupt Practices Commission (UISAPC) on a courtesy visit.

The zonal commander, who expressed delight on the visit, said the role of youths is fundamental to winning the fight against corruption as the future of the country rests in their hands.

He assured the delegation that the command would render all assistance permissible by law in order for them to realise their goals, adding that the task of fighting corruption is one that required collaborative efforts.

“This visit is unique and timely, it is an engagement which falls under Objective 4 of the EFCC Strategic Plan 2021-2025, which requires the commission to collaborate with stakeholders in the fight against corruption.

“I urge you students, as leaders of tomorrow to be good ambassadors of your home and your country by striving to be above board in character and conduct at all times,” said the the EFCC zonal boss.

Earlier, the Chairman of UISAPC, Mr Bagbansora Taiwo, had commended the EFCC on their good works and expressed the readiness of the association to lend support to the command in mobilising students against cybercrime and other forms of corruption in tertiary institutions in the state.

Taiwo said the UISAPC was duly registered with the University of Ilorin authority and have members across all faculties in the institution.

“Therefore, I promise you our solid support and cooperation in your efforts to fighting corruption and other related vices,” said the chairman.
