The Nasarawa State Vocational and Relevant Technology Board says Gov. Abdullahi Sule has approved the training of 500 youths on 11 different skills acquisition in the state.
This, the board said, would enable the youths in the state to become self-employed, and self-reliant for the overall development of the state.
The General Manager of the board, Dr. Idris Umar, confirmed this to newsmen in Lafia on Tuesday.
He said the board was established to train youths, women, and others in various skills to enable them to become self-reliant and contribute to the development of the state.
“The state government has approved the training of additional 500 youths on 11 different skills acquisition/trades.
“The trades include tiling, bricklaying, interlocking, leather work, tailoring/fashion design, POP, and plumbing work.
“Others are vulcanizing, waste to wealth, solar installation, welding, and fabrication,’’ Umar said.
He urged the youths and other Nigerians to embrace skill acquisition in order to become self-reliant and contribute positively to the development of the country.
“It is in view of this that I want to call on the youths and other Nigerians to embrace skills acquisition and entrepreneurship’ .”
Umar further explained that over the years, the board had trained youths, women, and others on different skills acquisition programs.
“And this has improved on the standard of living of the trainees, made them to be self-employed and employers of labor,” he said.
Umar appreciated the governor for giving topmost priority to the training of the youths in the state.
According to him, the state government is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that youths acquired different skills in the state.
The general manager restated the board’s continued commitment to training youths in different skills/trades in the state.
