SUBEB warns contractors against executing shoddy works in Sokoto

The State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), in Sokoto State has urged contractors handling its Intervention projects to execute quality work, according to specifications.

Alhaji Altine Shehu-Kajiji, the Executive Chairman of the board made the assertion in a statement issued to newsmen by Abbas Sanyinna, its spokesman in Sokoto on Wednesday.

Shehu-Kajiji was quoted as saying that under the 2020 and 2021 UBE Intervention projects, the board would construct 79 new blocks of classrooms, renovate 93, as well as 14 blocks of VIP toilets.

“However, I want to inform the contractors that SUBEB will only accept quality work done according to contractual specifications.

“This is with the sole aim of ensuring durability of the projects for the benefit of the students and thevbasic education sub sector in the state,” he said.

The Executive Chairman added the state had also secured other projects that  include: Fourteen boreholes, procurement and distribution of 504 sets of ECCDE plastic furniture.

“Other projects involved are procurement and distribution of 19,089 double seater iron and wooden deskd and 195 tables and chairs for the teachers and principals” he added.

Shehu-Kajiji further stated that during the period set for the completion of the project, officials and engineers of the board would closely monitor them through constant supervision.
