Delta Governor–elect tasks Nigerians on inter-religious harmony

Delta  Governor-elect, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on Nigerians to continue to maintain inter-religious harmony in the country.

The governor-elect, who is also the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, stated this in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Dennis Otu, on Friday in Asaba.

Oborevwori prayed that the bonds of friendship, service, and commitment to the unity and peaceful co-existence of Nigeria should be renewed and strengthened during this season.

The governor-elect, while felicitating Muslims across the country on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el Fitr, urged them to continue to pray for the country’s unity.

”As Muslims globally celebrate Eid Mubarak, I urge our Muslim brothers and sisters to continue to pray for the peace, unity and progress of Nigeria.

”I believe that no matter our faith, religion should be more than a badge of identity; it should also serve as a vehicle to contribute to the socio-economic advancement of our country,” he said.

Oborevwori also urged them to rededicate themselves to the teachings of Prophet Mohammed.

He enjoined Nigerians to remain hopeful about the future of the country, notwithstanding the current economic and security challenges.
