First Lady Aisha Buhari has urged wealthy Nigerians to support the ongoing effort at providing a conducive learning environment for children with special needs in the country.
Buhari made the call on Thursday when she visited the site of the ongoing construction of a befitting school for children with special needs located in the Galadimawa area of Abuja.
The ongoing project is sponsored by the Future Assured program of the Aisha Buhari Foundation.
The project which has been under construction for five months, when completed will provide a fitness center, Aqua-pool therapy, sensory integration playroom, and assessment center when completed.
The first lady said the school is meant to cater to children that have learning difficulties and visually impaired children among others.

“ This school is therefore equipped to meet the academic, social as well as emotional needs of the children with needs.
While expressing satisfaction with the level of work done so far, the first lady said the school will provide a conducive learning environment for children between the ages of 2 and 18 years as well as adults of 25 years.
She also informed the gathering that a service of International trained specialized in children with special needs has been engaged to manage the school for effective service delivery.
“ At the moment we have engaged Irish and British instructors on children with special needs.
“ They are going to be in Nigeria very soon to take over the school as instructors to ensure that the right standard and management are adopted in the school, “ she said.
