Nollywood on Thursday, staged a victory football match in celebration of Enugu Gov.-elect, Dr Peter Mbah, and his Deputy, Ifeanyi Ossai, in the just-concluded governorship election in the State.

The novelty match which was organized by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) is tagged Peter Mbah/Ossai victory match between Nollywood and Boolu Ogbe Ambassadors – a Coal City Football team – held at Rangers Training Field, Liberty Estate, Enugu.

The two teams played draw after the 90 minutes of the game but the Boolu Ogbe Ambassadors team finally won the match by 4-2 in penalty shootout.

Speaking during the 2nd half, the Chairman, AGN, Enugu Chapter, Comrade Brown Ene, said the essence of the match was to celebrate Mbah, as well as a way of appreciating his great plan for the creative industry in the state.

He stated that the guild had before the election visited the Enugu governor-elect, who promised them so many things that would change the face of Nollywood in the state.

“So, we have no option than to support him, having seen what he has in mind for us. We also felt there is a need to celebrate this victory.

“The match is just the beginning of what AGN, Enugu, Nollywood, and the creative industry will do for this government,” Ene said.

Ene who recalled how Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s administration supported the movie “Ifediche” which was nominated as the best indigenous movie by the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award (AMVCA) 2023, said they would continue to support Enugu State Government.

He added that the same movie was now awaiting to be premiered, saying, “We will continue to support the Enugu government in all we do for them to continue assisting us”.

Mbah, represented by the Enugu State, Director-General of the PDP Campaign Council, Chief Ikeje Asogwa, appreciated AGN for organizing the victory match, saying the match had beautifully entertained people around.

Mbah said, “We hope the AGN will continue to come up with a beautiful program like this to entertain the general public”.
