St. Francis Catholic Church in Benin City recently hosted a THANKSGIVING MASS to honor Solomon Arase, the former Inspector General of Police (IGP) and current Chairman of the Police Service Commission.
The event marked the second edition of the Arase Foundation's annual lecture and scholarship awards, which aim to support the less privileged in society.
During the occasion, Reverend Father Andrew Obinyan, PARISH PRIEST of St. Francis Catholic Church, commended Arase for his exceptional service and described him as a smiling, joyful, content, and accomplished veteran retired but not tired police officer.
Father Obinyan expressed his heartfelt prayers for a reduction in the occurrence of police brutality, wishing for a future where such instances would be minimal.
He emphasized the need for the media to prioritize showcasing the faces of hardworking, smiling police officers, while shifting away from highlighting the unfortunate incidents involving trigger-happy officers who abuse their power and exploit innocent citizens.
The Arase Foundation, named after Solomon Arase, is actively involved in philanthropic activities aimed at assisting the less privileged. Through its annual lecture and scholarship awards, the foundation empowers young individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds by providing access to education and creating opportunities for a brighter future.
In response to the honor bestowed upon him, Arase expressed his gratitude to the church community and attributed his achievements to the grace of God. He emphasized that his good works were a testament to the support and encouragement he received throughout his career.
