The Electoral Petitions Tribunal sitting in Benin-City, Edo State, on Monday dismissed the petition filed by Barrister Jimoh Ijegbai of the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP), challenging the victory of Leader of the House of Representatives, Prof Julius Ihonvbere of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in the February 25 ,2023, House of Representatives contest for the Owan Federal Constituency seat.
It will be recalled that Professor Julius Ihonvbere of the APC trounced Barr Jimoh Ijegbai of the PDP in 20 out of the 22 wards in Owan Federal Constituency.
Ihonvbere made history in Owan Federal Constituency as the first contestant to defeat his opponent with such a huge number of ward differentials and also the margin of defeat over his opponent, with over five thousand nine hundred votes to the bargain.

The Ruling by the tribunal did not come to many as a surprise, against the backdrop of the fact that Owan Constituents came out in their numbers to vote massively for Ihonvbere's mandate renewal quest due to his exemplary performance in his first term at the House of Representatives where he displayed unalloyed passion and availability to his Constituents needs and aspirations.
Political watchers and observers were at a loss as to why Jimoh Ijegbai embarked on a wild goose chase of approaching the tribunal after suffering a total rejection and devastating defeat in the hands of a clear majority of Owan Federal Constituents.
