The Real Estate Developer's Association of Nigeria (REDAN), weekend appealed to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently sign into law the Real Estate Regulatory Bill which was passed by the 9th National Assembly.

"REDAN is calling on the federal government to sign into law the real estate regulatory bill which was passed into law by the 9th assembly.

"The Bill is lying in the president office, if that bill is signed today, we will remain self-regulatory system, so we are calling the federal government to fasten the signing of that bill.

"It will assist in the aspect of money laundering in Nigeria. Nigeria has been leveled low on the aspect of money laundering in the real estate and also the issue of building collapse will also be taken care of.

"The bill stresses that, there must be adherence and follow strictly the national building code, there is also an umbrella that brings the whole people on the built industry under the same roof to discuss issues that matters about constructions in Nigeria."

Alhaji Aliyu Oroji Wamakko therefore urged the president to sign the bill into law in order to fight the housing issues wholistically.

On the recent two-day capacity building training for REDAN members and no members in Abuja, Wamakko said the conference was to reposition developers and provide an enabling environment for the private sector to strive.

He said there was need to educate the members and make them understand the aspect of different projects and also the financial situation that is involved.

" So, that is why we called our members so that we can give them the best and prepare them for the challenges ahead because complimenting governments efforts in the aspect of housing delivery is not an easy task.

"I just want to assure the public that if anybody has any problem with any developer, the first thing the person should put into consideration is the person a REDAN member? You can know a REDAN member by a seal we provided, every member of REDAN has a seal and in all his transactions, he’s expected to use that seal just like lawyers, that seal has a mercury number that will help us understand the person you are dealing with, and we will get in touch with the person.

"We are assuring the public, if you have any problem with any developer that is a REDAN member, bring him to REDAN office and you will get value for your money, because he has signed the code of conduct which state that there is no cheating, no sharp dealing, no sharp malpractice in the aspect of real estate business."
