These are indeed not the best of times for staff of the Federal Capital Territory as they continue to groan under the harsh leadership style of the current Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike.
www.timeline.ng gathered exclusively that the first thing Wike did when he resumed office was to immediately place an embargo on every payment in the Capital Territory, an exercise many thought was to bring sanity in their financial system.
Recent investigation has revealed that activities has remain at its lowest ebb in the Territory with several offices finding it absolutely difficult to even run their activities.
The only offices that are not affected by the embargo are the offices of the Ministers and that of his aides that is functioning smoothly.
To make matters worst is the fact that staffs have not been be paid their November salaries a situation that is very alien to them. According to one of the staff who for very obvious reason did not want his name on print said.
"I have been in this Territory for more than ten years, I have always received my salary latest on the 28th of every month. Now, this is going to the second week of the new month we are yet to receive our salaries.
"As you can see activities in the territory is almost grounded. Our Ministers has placed embargo on every payment, even monies used in running the offices. But his office is running very smoothly without any hiccup.
"When this embargo of a thing started we thought it was going to be something of a few period just for him to normalize things, which is normal when a new Minister takes office, but as you can see this one has overstretched. Things are spoiling and this man does not seem to care at all.
"Everyday you see in the media boasting about how he is going to transform FCT which is good anyway, but the people working with him are not finding things easy," the staff lamented.
You may also want to recall that the Wike embargo was directly responsible to why FCT did not meet their medal target during the last National Youth Games in Asaba. Our correspondent scooped that those managing the team even went borrowing to be able to make the FCT contingent participate at the Games with the believe that when the embargo is lifted the monies would be repaid.
