Late Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim

The government of Yobe state has announced the death of former governor and Senator, Bukar Abba Ibrahim at the age of 75.

Until his death, he was the Senator representing Yobe East Senatorial District. He governed the state between 1999 and 2007 and had also served as governor briefly between January 1992 and November 1993 in the aborted third republic.

A statement by the Director General, Press and Media Affairs to the governor, Mamman Mohammed says Senator Bukar died today while receiving treatment in Saudi Arabia and his remains will be buried there.

Governor Mai Mala Buni has directed all other aspects of the funeral and condolences to be taken over by the state government to accord the late governor a state burial and honour.

Meanwhile condolences are to be received by Governor Mai Mala Buni at the government house mosque in Damaturu.

He described the death of as a huge loss to the government and people of the state and prayed God to forgive late Bukar Abba Ibrahim of his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdausi.

He called on the people and friends of Yobe state to join his family, the government and the people of Yobe state to pray for the repose of the soul of the former governor.

Late Bukar Abba Ibrahim, a former governor and former senator representing Yobe east died at the age of 75.
