AGIS Leads Others as Most Improved IGR Agency of FCTA in 2023

Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS) has steadily maintained its lead as the most Improved Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) Agency of the Federal Capital Territory Administration for the year 2023 according to findings by the Department of Reforms Coordination and Service Improvement. 

This was according to a statement signed by the Emmanuel Tortiv, Principal Press Secretary, Office of the Most Senior Director, FCTA.

The Department which organizes the Annual Staff Recognition Award says as a result of its examination of all the Revenue Generating Agencies of FCTA in 2023, AGIS and three other complementary Agencies were on Tuesday recognized with cash awards and trophies by the Hon. Minister of FCT, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesome Wike.

Presenting the Awards to the recipients on behalf of the Minister, the Most Senior Director (MSD) in FCTA, Chief (DR.) Samuel Atang urged them to do more in the face of increasing demands for social services, projects funding and provision of amenities to all residents of the Territory.

While congratulating the Awardees, DR. Atang said the presentation of the cash awards and trophies was meant to also serve as a very important means of remembrance that will continue to spur as well as inspire them to higher heights.

To whom much is given, much is also expected. On behalf of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, I want to congratulate you all and to recognize your efforts in the area of revenue generation and to encourage you to do more.

As you are aware we have a lot of projects and programmes as initiated and pursued by this Administration under the abled leadership of Barrister Ezenwo Nyesome Wike. As you can see, the FCTA has set a Programme to reward hardwork and we want to assure you that more of these will be coming. Stated DR. Atang.

While urging other SDAs to look inwards with a view to struggling to be part of the reward system, the MSD praised the 2023 Awardees for putting on their thinking caps, generating more revenues and coming up with initiatives that will improve service delivery ahead of the year 2024.

The Special Recognition Award given to AGIS was received by the Ag. Director, Mr. Isiaka Alpha Kure with a princely prize tag of N10M while Tpl Ekarikpong Ukpanah received the 1st position award on behalf of Parks and Recreation Department under the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) with a prize tag of over N4.5M.  

Dr. Opara Uchenna received the 2nd (second) position on behalf of Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD) with a prize value of over N2.8M while Dr. Olobashola Kolawole, Director, FCT Science, Technology and Innovation received the award on behalf of his Department which clinched the 3rd (third) position with a total prize value of over N67,000.

Speaking on the criteria adopted to arrive at the prize money, the Director of Reforms.

 Co-ordination and Service Improvement (RC&SI), Dr. Jumai Ahmadu said two point five percent (2.5%) of the difference in the previous revenue generating year and any other gift items are what defines the prize money along with other perks.

She expressed hope that the 2025 Staff Recognition Award will spring up better surprises and upsets with more innovations to crown the Award in line with the renewed Hope Agenda of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu Administration which is being vigorously pursued by the Hon. Minister Barrister Nyesome Wike and the Minister of State, Dr. Mrs. Maryam Mahmoud.  

The Award was presented in furtherance of the 4th 2024 FCTA Staff Recognition Award which was held at Chida International Hotel, Utako, Abuja on Friday January 26, 2024.
