After extorting a ransom of N9 million from the family of Johnbull Osagiede in Edo State, his captors tragically ended his life.
Osagiede fell victim to abduction when a group of suspected kidnappers raided Evbohen quarters in Idumebo community, situated in the Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state.
According to a family insider who preferred anonymity, the kidnappers initially demanded N15 million from Osagiede’s wife for his safe release.
Succumbing to the pressure, the family managed to gather N9 million, paying it in two separate transactions of N3 million and N6 million, as instructed by the abductors.
Despite complying with the demands, the kidnappers callously murdered Osagiede following the ransom payment.
Discovery of Osagiede’s lifeless body was made by vigilant members of the community, found discarded along the pipeline road near Iguelaba community.
The source mentioned that the community promptly notified the Ugo Police Division about the incident.
This tragic event highlights the persistent threat of kidnapping in Edo State, leaving families devastated and communities in fear.
