The governor Alia is doing well- Anagbe

The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi and Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Benue State Chapter, Most Rev. Wilfred Anagbe, has acknowledged the developmental strides of the government of Benue State under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, saying the government is doing well.

Bishop Anagbe stated this while making a speech at the Democracy and Thanksgiving Service organised by the Benue State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria in conjunction with Benue State Government at ECWA Church, No. 1 Barracks Road, Makurdi.

Represented by the Vice-Chairman of CAN, Benue State Chapter, Rev. Jonathan Ugbede, the Bishop appreciated God for the leadership He has given the state, adding that Benue is now witnessing tremendous development in all corners.

"The government of Fr. Alia is doing well. We are seeing development in all corners. We will continue to pray and stand by you. When the righteous rule the people rejoice. We are rejoicing in Benue State under your leadership".

While thanking God for the grace to celebrate the Service, Bishop Anagbe said the Christian body in the state was solidly behind Governor Alia and that they would continue to offer prayers for him to continue to excel.

He, however, mentioned the deplorable condition of the road to the state Secretariat of CAN and appealed to the Governor to consider it, even as he requested the Governor to assist them with solar panels to also light up the vicinity of the Secretariat.

Responding, Governor Alia, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Joseph Alakali, said he was deeply honoured to join CAN in the celebration of democracy during his first year in office as the executive governor of Benue State and in offering a collective gratitude to God for His blessings and guidance.

The Governor commended CAN for their unwavering commitment to promoting unity, peace, and social justice in the state, adding that the dedication of CAN to providing spiritual and moral compass, and advocating for the rights of the marginalised was truly commendable.

While calling for continued prayers for prosperity, peace, and stability of Benue State, Governor Alia pledged to continue to work tirelessly to serve the people of the state with honesty, integrity, and diligence.

He expressed appreciation to the Christian Association of Nigeria, Benue State Chapter for the partnership and collaboration in organising the event and called on all Benue citizens to join him on Wednesday, 12th June, 2024 at IBB Square, Makurdi to celebrate this year's democracy day.

The event which attracted the clergy and lay faithful across Christian denominations in the state, witnessed outpouring of prayers and presentation of award of honour to the Governor by the youth wing of CAN, Benue State Chapter for his excellent leadership.
