Federal Road Safety Corps wishes to bring to the knowledge of the general public a report from Ford Motors recalling over 99,000 vehicles as a result of technical challenges involving the engine intake valves. The affected vehicles include Bronco, Edge, Explorer, SUV, and F-150 trucks, as well as Aviator and Nautilus SUVs produced in the year, 2021-2022 from its brand Lincoln.
The report also stated that the 2.7 or 3.0 liter Nano Eco Boost V-6 engines in these vehicles contain faulty in-take valves that could crack and break, resulting into a loss of drive power which could increase the risk of crash. According to the information forwarded by Ford Motors, before losing motive power, the check-engine light may illuminate on the instrument cluster and drivers may notice the vehicle running rough.
This information is conveyed in compliance with the directive issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume CON, mandating FRSC and other key agencies to activate as a matter of urgency, speedy processes for robust public sensitisation on the inherent dangers in the continues use of the vehicles and also admonish users to contact dealers of the brands.
Consequent upon the imminent danger this manufacturing error could cause to both the users of this vehicles as well as other road users, the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Shehu Mohammed hereby draws the attention of dealers and users of these products to desist from further sales or usage of such vehicles on Nigerian roads and contact the manufacturers for correction of the identified defect.
To ensure strict compliance by those affected, Commanding Officers have been directed to ensure that patrol operatives stop such vehicles from continuing their trip anywhere they are sighted on the nation’s highways. This is to ensure that the impending danger that the continues use of the vehicle could cause is swiftly avoided to make room for safe travels.
