Gunmen kill retired Air Vice-Marshal Maisaka, grandchild in Kaduna

A retired Airforce officer, Air Vice Marshal Muhammed Maisaka has been killed by gunmen suspected to be bandits in Rigasa area of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Jalige, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday, in Kaduna.

Jalige, who said the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, also said Maisaka’s gateman sustained injuries from the attack.

The deceased wife, Fatima Maisaka, while confirming the news to Daily Trust, said the gunmen killed the retired Air vice-marshal and his 27-year-old grandson, Mohammed Musa, in their living room.

 “They only came into the parlour and killed them both without taking any of our belongings. In fact, they left our phones with us,” she said.

Jalige said that when the information was received, the Commissioner of Police, Mudassiru Abdullah, directed the Divisional Police Officer and the Area Commander to the scene.

“The corpse has been evacuated to the hospital and the gateman has also been rushed to the hospital for treatment”, he said, while revealing that details of the incident would be made available soon.

Jalige appealed to Kaduna residents to come forward with useful and timely information that could lead to the arrest of the culprits.
