Former Zamfara Governor, Abdul’aziz Yari has donated 500 bags of rice and 15 cows to the Christian community in the state, ahead of the Christmas.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the beneficiaries included the Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN), 400 bags and 10 cows; Igbo All Progressive Congress wing, 40 bags and 2 cows.
Other are APC Igbo Community Progressive Forum, 40 bags of rice and 2 cows, and 20 bags of rice and a cow to Yoruba APC wing in the state.
Yari who was represented during the distribution of the items on Monday in Gusau by Alhaji Sani Musa-Mafara, said the donation was to put smile on the faces of Christians and their families during the yuletide.
The former governor urged Christians in the country to pray for peace and stability in the state and the country at large.
Rev. Fr. Iliya Ibrahim-Tsiga, who received the items on behalf of the Christian community, commended Yari for the gesture and prayed for peace and stability in the country.
Others who spoke at the event, including Chief Collins Ofodile, Mr Emmanuel Anokwuru and Mr Isiyaka Lawal, also commended the former governor for the the donation.
