Maj.-Gen. Christopher Musa, Theatre Commander, Joint Taskforce North East “Operation Hadin Kai,” has charged troops to flush out remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists to end insurgency in the North East.
He made the call on Saturday while addressing troops of the 5 Brigade, Nigerian Army in Damasak, the headquarters of Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno.
The Commander was in Damasak, a major community on the Nigerian border with Niger Republic, as part of a routine operational tour of the theater.
To motivate the troops, Musa promised special promotions for gallant soldiers and those who distinguished themselves in the fight against remnant of the insurgents hibernating the area.
He said that promotion and other rewards in the field would be based on gallantry and outstanding acts of bravery.
Musa said that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya had provided the necessary resources and equipments needed to prosecute and hasten the end of the fight against insurgency.
He enjoined the troops to reciprocate the gesture by ensuring effective utilisation of the equipment to end insurgency and enhance peace building process in the region.
While urging the troops to be professional in their conduct, Musa tasked commanders in the theatre to be good managers of men and resources entrusted to them to facilitate successful prosecution of the war.
He further admonished Senior Non Commissioned Officers (SNCO) to justify their ranks by ensuring effective management and control of their subordinates.
“Your deployment to serve in the North East is a previledge that placed you ahead of your colleagues outside the region,” he said.
