WASSA Housing Estate: FCT Minister thanks Qatar Charity, urges establishment of hospital

Lawal Yusuf, Director Human Resources Management, Dr Bashir Mohammed, Secretary Embassy of Qatar Ahmad El Mesnad, FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, Vice Executive Chairman, Qatar Charity, Ahmad Yusuf Media Director, Qatar Charity, Soud Ali Rashed, Chief of Staff to FCT Minister, Malam Bashir Mai-Bornu, Country Director, Qatar Charity, Hamdi Abdou and Secretary, Health and Human Services Secretariat Dr Abubakar Tafida during the visit of Qatar Charity officials to the FCTA.

FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has expressed appreciation to Qatar Charity for the ongoing construction of a housing estate for widows and orphans in Wassa District, Abuja donated by the organization.

The Minster said this when senior officials of the Doha based Qatari charity organization paid him a courtesy visit in his office on Tuesday.

He said: “We are very happy with your projects in Nigeria, particularly in Abuja. We are very happy with the project for the estate that you are building for the widows and the orphans in Wassa”.

Malam Bello while pledging that the FCT Administration would continue to work closely with Qatar Charity, reaffirmed the FCTA’s commitment to support the mutual economic relations between both countries,

The Minister also urged Qatar Charity to set up a hospital in Abuja to cater for the well-being of the increasing population in the Territory.

“Come and set up a hospital in Abuja because Abuja is growing and now has almost over six million people and also we need more investment in healthcare. We already have investments from Nigerian companies, from companies in Europe and also a few other places.

“We can arrange to go into partnership to establish a hospital by Qatar Charity in a good location so that it can provide medical services for the people”.

Malam Bello also urged Qatar Charity to establish its African headquarters in Nigeria, preferably Abuja.

“I think Nigeria should be the best place to host your head office we have a population of over 200 million people and you can see the people are very friendly, they are very accommodating and also we have a lot between our two countries that we can do together. So, these are some of the things that I think when you discuss at the headquarters, it is good for you to consider”.

Earlier, leader of the Qatari delegation and Vice Executive Chairman, Qatar Charity, Mr. Ahmad Yusuf thanked the Minister for the opportunity to meet with him and pledged his organization’s continuous cooperation with the FCT Administration.

According to Mr. Yusuf, Qatar Charity established a branch in Nigeria since 2019 and now has many projects in the country. We have some huge projects and we will do it Insha Allah in the future and we need your support”.

Also present at the event were the Chief of Staff to the Minister, Malam Bashir Mai-Bornu, Secretary for Health and Human Services, Dr Abubakar Tafida, Media Director of Qatar Charity, Soud Ali Rashed and other senior officials of the FCTA and Qatar Charity.
