Alhaji Abbas Masanawa, one of the governorship aspirants in Katsina State on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform, says if elected heavy investment in education is non-negotiable in the state when he becomes the governor in 2023.
He disclosed this while addressing newsmen on Tuesday in Katsina over his intention to contest for the governorship position.
Masanawa was the Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Nigeria Printing and Minting Company (NSPMC).
“What to expect from me if God answers our prayers, education, which is the bedrock of development, will be vigorously pursued to ensure a functional education system at all levels."
“Education is cardinal to human development and security. Thus, heavy investment in education is non-negotiable in Katsina State."
“We shall vigorously pursue rural and agricultural development, youth and women empowerment, poverty alleviation, and entrepreneurial development."
“Comprehensive Health Care delivery, infrastructure development, job creation, skills acquisition, renewable energy, and information communication Technology development are vital to my aspirations."
“We are deeply committed to doing much more to our people. We would be unveiling our comprehensive blueprint for ‘Peace, Progress and Development’ in Katsina state at the appropriate time."
“We would also be unveiling our program of events for political and other engagements soon.”
He further revealed that security would be his topmost priority if he becomes the governor.
“It is my singular honor and privilege to formally inform you that I have already duly obtained the expression of Interest and nomination forms at the Party’s National Secretariat in Abuja as required."
“I have equally submitted the forms and have been duly screened."
“I wish to inform you that my decision to contest for this office on the platform of APC is predicated on my very strong desire to give credible, dynamic, effective, and people-oriented governance."
“That is anchored on the basic democratic principles of accountability, transparency, and good governance."
“We intend to build on the successes, recorded by the current administration in the state under the able leadership of Gov. Aminu Masari.”
Masanawa said he was fully mindful of and well prepared, to frontally face the heavy burden and huge responsibilities that would come with the office of the governor, particularly that of Katsina.
