The NDLEA has staged a three-kilometre walk-in Benin to commemorate the 2022 UN Day against Drug Abuse and Trafficking.
It was organised in partnership with the Edo State Drug Control Committee.
The walk began at the civil service secretariat in the state capital and ended near the palace of the Oba of Benin.
Addressing participants, Mr Buba Wakawa, commander of the NDLEA in Edo, stressed the need for youths and members of the public to avoid drug peddling and abuse.
He noted that the damage and dangers of engaging in illicit drug peddling and abuse could not be over-emphasised.
He emphasised that drug abuse drains the resources of abusers and affects them mentally and psychologically.
Wakawa explained that the UN set June 26 of every year aside to draw attention to the ills of drug peddling, trafficking and abuse.
