The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Rivers, says it is really to conduct a mock accreditation to test run the functionality of the Bi-modal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices.


Mr Mark Usulor, Head, of the Department of Voter Education and Publicity, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, in Port Harcourt, on behalf of Dr. Johnson Alalibo, the Residents Electoral Commissioner.
Usulor explained that the mock accreditation, slated for Saturday, would test the functionality of BVAS devices ahead of the general elections in Rivers.
According to him, the exercise shall hold between 8.30 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. in two Polling Units, each in six selected Local Government Areas.
He added that two LGAs each were drawn from the three senatorial districts of the state.
He listed the LGAs to include Ikwerre, and Obio/Akpor LGAs in Rivers East, Gokana and Opobo/Nkoro LGAs in Rivers South-East, and Asari-Toru and Bonny LGAs in Rivers West.
He urged registered voters in the selected polling units, political parties, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), the media, and the general public to come out en masse to participate and observe the exercise in the LGAs.
The commissioner reiterated the commission’s commitment to the conduct of free, fair, credible, and safe elections.
