The governorship candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi, Dr. IfeanyiChukwuma Odii, has promised to restore, unite and promote peace building among Ebonyi warring communities if he emerges as governor.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that some of the communities include: Ezza-Effium and Edda amongst others.

Odii made the assertion in Abakaliki in an interactive session with religious leaders in Abakaliki on Monday.

According to the Governorship candidate, I will prioritize peacebuilding and uniting all sections of the state when I become the governor.

“I will do so because no meaningful progress can exist in an atmosphere of crisis. I will also focus on creating wealth and improve on human capacity.

“I will go into partnership with the private sector to expand the revenue base of the state instead of burdening the already impoverished residents of the state with high taxation,” he added.

Bishop Chinedu Nwoye, Leader of the Christ Ascension Church (CAC), Ebonyi chapter, who spoke on behalf of other clergymen, said they were worried over the spate of political violence in the state.

Nwoye commended the PDP Candidate on his mission to rescue Ebonyi and revive its economy, urging his members to go all out to cast their votes for someone that has the fear of God.

“The biggest problem facing the state is the state of career politicians, who are desperate to stay in power because politics is the only thing they know and do,” he stated.

Similarly, the Governorship Candidate, in a meeting with the Muslim Community in Ebonyi, said he would run an inclusive government irrespective of religion and tribe.

The Muslim Community, led by Imam Raheem Kabiru, pledged their support to the candidate.
