Fourteen political parties in Kwara have signed a Peace Accord to ensure equal playing ground during the upcoming general elections.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Kwara, Alhaji Attahiru Madami, confirmed this during the Peace Accord meeting at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ilorin on Wednesday.

Madami, who was said to have conducted a similar exercise during the 2019 elections, said it would not have happened without peace and an equal playing field.

The REC also assured that the commission would replicate the measures adopted four years ago to ensure that political parties and candidates have fair and equal chances at victory during the election.

He commended the security personnel for the harmonious atmosphere that the residents are enjoying.

He urged the voters who migrated from old polling units to new ones to go and check their names and the name of the new polling unit on Friday to ascertain where to vote on Saturday.

He however said that 218,076 uncollected Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) would be taken to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for safe keep.

“I have zero tolerance to voting, any polling unit that the number of voters is more than the number of accredited persons, the election of the polling unit will be canceled,” he warned.

On his part, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Paul Odama, said that security agencies are ready and done with all the deployments.

Odama assured residents and all other stakeholders of readiness to protect their lives and property before, during, and after the election.
