The Peoples Redemption Party candidate in the 2023 Adamawa governorship election, Lt. Cdr. Ibrahim Babainna (Rtd) has sent a congratulatory message to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Fintiri as the winner following the supplementary elections which held on Saturday April 15, 2023.
In his message, he said, "I, Lt. Cdr Ibrahim Baba-Inna (Rtd) hereby extend my heartfelt congratulations to you, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, on your re-election as the Executive Governor of Adamawa State.
"The people of our great state have spoken, and they have entrusted you with the mandate of leading our state into the next four years," he said.
The Adamawa election had become enmeshed in a fresh round of controversy after the state's Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) announced the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator Aisha Dahiru (Binani) as the winner of the election while collation was still on-going.
"We certainly had our differences during the campaign period. Those differences bordered on our individual visions for Adamawa state and what we each believed to be the path to giving life to those visions.
"Although I did not emerge as the winner of the election, I am still grateful for the opportunity to have offered myself for service and representation of the people of Adamawa. It was an honor to have been able to meet and interact with so many of you, our dear citizens, during my campaign, and to hear your thoughts and concerns about the future of our state.
"I want to extend my special thanks to the PRP family, my team of campaign volunteers and supporters, who worked tirelessly to spread our message throughout the state. Your dedication and hard work were truly inspiring, and I am proud to have had you all by my side throughout the campaign.
"To the people of Adamawa, even though I did not attain a position of political leadership, I want to assure you that I will continue to work for the betterment of our state. I believe that we all have a role to play in building a brighter future for ourselves and for generations to come, and I am committed to doing my part.
"I thank you all for your support and encouragement. May we continue to work together to build a stronger, more prosperous, and more peaceful Adamawa.
"Once again, congratulations to Rt.Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on your reelection.
"I wish you all the best.
"God bless you; God bless Adamawa State; God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria," he said.
