100 Days In Office: Edo Speaker Lists Achievement, Prioritize Projects Delivery

During the last hundred days in the activities of the Edo State House of Assembly, the Speaker Rt Hon Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku believes that they have developed a template for easy Legislative Business.

Agbebaku noted that after their Inaugural ceremony, twenty-three Peoples Oriented resolutions, and bills were passed to end the first quarter.

The speaker who gave the rundown on Thursday at the Anthony Enahoro Complex, to Mark its 100 days in office, said the house is now poised to address various human capacity development policies as well as constituency projects on commencement of the next phase of legislative activities.

Recall that, the Eight Assembly members were inaugurated on June 16, 2023, to end the tenure of the controversial Seventh Assembly.

Continuing, the speaker said in the period under review, they have Constituted and inaugurated committees for the smooth running of the oversight functions of ministries Agencies, and Parastatals.

He also explained that the house has tackled the Federal Road Maintenance Agency FERMA over the deplorable State of Federal Roads, a development the lawmakers said became imperative given the various limitations brought to road users and motorists plying the failed portions across the state.

According to the speaker, the eight Assembly also credited the resolution to itself with the taming of the recent resurgence of kidnapping where it urged a holistic approach towards curbing the menace.

While thanking the executive arm of the government for its support, staffers of the Assembly, the Media, and his legislative colleagues for their diligent services, Agbebaku affirmed that the house is not an appendage of the executive stressing that they are partners in progress.

He added that the house is looking forward to a robust budget sometime in the year where every project across various constituencies is captured.

On his part, the Chairman of NUJ Edo State Council, Festus Alenkhe said journalists in the state will continue to partner through a deliberate conscience and ethical standards in the discharge of their duties
