...Appoints Former Deputy Governor Dr. Pius Odubu as Leader of Edo South Senatorial District

Having learned a bitter lesson from the 2023 general elections where the All Progressives Congress APC lost the Senatorial, and two Federal House of Representatives seats in Edo South senatorial district on Saturday resolved to put their house in order ahead of the Governorship Election scheduled to hold in September 2024

The APC caucus meeting which was held at Comrade Adams Oshiomole residence in Benin City unanimously endorsed former Deputy Governor Dr. Pius Odubu as the Edo South Senatorial leader.

This according to many of the party faithfuls have been lacking in the zone, hence the party was not properly organized and prepared for previous election. As a result there have been unhealthy rivalry, mutual suspicion and bitterness among party leaders in the district

A Chieftain of the party, who simply identified his name as Osamuyi said with the coming of Dr. Pius Odubu as leader of Edo South senatorial district, APC will witness a rancor free party organization in the district that will guarantee it victory in 2024.

According to him "Oga Journalist, am overwhelmed with the decision of the party leaders, the coming of Dr. Pius Odubu is the beginning of good things for Edo South. The Odubu we know is down to earth, you get the right advice from him, not greedy, he run an open Policy, he doesn't disrespect anyone, he picks calls any time, his house is open to everyone. What else do you want in a Leader. Odubu, a grassroot politician, that has proven himself in all last general elections.

"I will seriously solicit for everyone in Edo South and Edo state in general to join hands together in ensuring our leader, Dr. Pius Odubu succeeds and that APC will succeed in 2024."

It would be recalled that APC Edo South senatorial district have been lacking leadership and with the endorsement of Dr. Pius Odubu as the new Edo South senatorial district leader, APC is now prepare to get Victory in 2024.
In his remarks at the meeting, Dr. Pius Odubu said the success of the party in 2024 depends on the collective work of everyone and solicited the total support of all party faithfuls across the zone and State, Dr. Pius Odubu said it is time for them to change the narrative in Edo state politics.

Earlier, the State Leader of the party Sen Adams Oshiomhole had admonished party leaders and faithfuls across the State to shun bitterness and embrace collaboration in the running of the affairs of the party. He got the state caucus to set aside all the various suspension orders on some party members across the state.

It will be recalled that a fortnight ago the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had released the timetable for the conduct of Edo Governorship elections in September 2024 and all the parties are now strategizing ahead of the election.
In the All Progressives Congress no fear than twenty governorship aspirants have indicated interest to contest for the number one seat at Osadebay Avenue Benin City.

In the days ahead , it will be seen how each of the parties will selected their candidates and with the recent steps taken by the All Progressives Congress, it is almost certain that the process of the selection of the candidate of the party may be seamless.
Dr. Pius Odubu, the newly elected political leader of Edo South Senatorial District was a two term member of the House of Representatives for Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency in the fourth and fifth National Assembly and was a two term deputy governor to Comrade Adams Oshiomhole between 2008 and 2016.
