Formula one Williams driver Alex Albon has been ruled out of the Italian Grand Prix with appendicitis and will be replaced by William's Reserve Driver Nyck de Vries. 

The driver who had finished 10th in FP2 and 11th in FP1, before being taken ill ahead of final practice at Monza Italy on Saturday morning. 

 

This unfortunate event has given a former Formula 2 and Formula E champion De Vries the chance to step in for the 26-year-old over the weekend. 

 

William released a statement which reads: 'Williams Racing can confirm that, after feeling unwell this morning and seeking medical advice from the FIA and local hospital, Alex Albon is now undergoing treatment for appendicitis. 

 

William confirmed that the team's reserve driver Nyck de Vries will drive in place of Alex for the remainder of the Italian Grand Prix weekend.'

 

The statement finished by saying: 'Alex is in good spirits and the team wishes him a speedy recovery.'

 

Meanwhile, Albon took to Twitter to say: 'Appendicitis, surgery and no racing isn't what I was expecting this weekend!
