Bayelsa Queens on Sunday defeated their Egyptian side Wadi Degla 3-0 in their final Group B game of the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco.

The result meant the Yenagoa-based Nigerian team finished as group runners-up with six points from three matches to advance to the semi-finals slated for Wednesday.

Sunday’s match at the Stade Moulay Hassan in Rabat saw the Nigerian side breaking the deadlock after seven minutes through a superb shot by Juliet Sunday past goalkeeper Farah Hassan.

They went on to double the lead three minutes into the second half through Mercy Itimi who thereafter completed her brace in the 58th minute.

The Nigerian team will now face Group A winners AS FAR Ladies of Morocco in the semi-finals on Wednesday in Rabat.

Group B winners and defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies of South Africa will on the other hand face Group A runners-up Simba Queens of Tanzania, also on Wednesday.

The South African side had whipped TP Mazembe Ladies of DR Congo 4-0 in Sunday’s other Group B game.

It helped them to finish the first round with the maximum nine points from three matches, and maintain a 100 percent record, just like AS FAR Ladies.

The final match of the competition will take place on Nov. 13 in Rabat, while the third-place match will hold a day earlier also in Rabat.
