The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF through its technical director Coach Austin Eguaveo weekend said the federation will soon decide the faith of the Super Eagles Coach, Jose Peseiro.
Coach Austin Eguaveon also confirmed that they are locked in negotiations with Super Eagles’ head coach.
Peseiro’s one-year contract with the NFF expired in June, with the NFF’s president declaring that the future of the Portuguese manager would be decided through a public social media poll.
But the Federation’s Technical Director has now confirmed that the NFF is seeking to re-contract Peseiro, but will also make adjustments to the previous agreement while urging him to be flexible if he hopes to continue as the Super Eagles coach.
” At the moment he is in charge(Super Eagles), we are discussing in-house and we are giving him conditions as well.
” We are flexible, so it could be suitable for both sides and once we reach a common ground, why not?
” We would invite him and once we agree and we arrive at a common ground, we would be flexible and we also want him to be flexible with us.
“Contract or no contract, he is a human being and he is still the coach of the national team as it is.
“Contract attached to whatever is not the issue for now, we will invite him as our present coach. We want to reach a common ground but if we can’t, we would also like to shake hands.
“We know he loves Nigeria, we will give him that level playground as well, the former Super Eagles defender concluded.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been drawn in Group C of the 2026 FIFA world cup qualifiers alongside 2010 World Cup hosts South Africa, Benin Republic, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Lesotho.
