Tokyo Olympics: Oborududu settles for silver, loses final in wrestling
Blessing Oborududu

Team Nigeria's Blessing Oborududu had to settle for a silver after losing the final of the 68kg women’s freestyle wrestling event 4-1 to America’s Tamyra Mensah-Stock on Tuesday.

She gives Nigeria her second medal in the tournament at the ongoing Tokyo Olympic Game to give the Nigerian officials something to cheer about after so many disappointments and distractions.

The 32-year-old had defeated Azerbaijani’s Elis Manolova and Meerim Zhumanazarova of Kyrgyzstan to advance to her first Olympic semi-finals.

So far, this contingent has surpassed the performance of the Nigerian contingent to the Rio and London Olympic.

Nigeria won nothing at the London Olympic and were only able to record one bronze medal courtesy of the Samson Siasia led football team.
