The captain of Nigeria Women Senior Handball Team, Dorathy Nyagh has assured that the team possess the firepower to win the Africa Women Handball Championship holding in Cameroon.

The Team is currently undergoing a closed and intense preparatory camping ahead of the 24th of the Championship at the Aguiyi Ironsi Cantonment in Abuja under the watchful eyes of assist coach Yusuf Abdukadir who is holding fort for head coach, Rafiu Salami who joins the team on Friday. Dorathy is confident that with the level of preparation they have undergone, the team will

"I am very optimistic that we can do well in the championship"

"This Championship is important to the team as we haven't played in the championship for over 20 years and with this opportunity we are not going to take chances at all.

"We will fight to make history again and we are not going there for a jamboree. This is an opportunity we are not taking for granted"

The Benue Queens left back also stated that the team is focused and determined to ensure that they apply effectively the tactics thought them by the technical crew to the ensure they qualify out of group B where they are pitched alongside host, Cameroon, DR Congo and Kenya.

"It's not all about who has being consistent in the Championship it is about focus, determination and unity.

“We have all it takes to qualify out of our group considering the set of Coaches we have in person of Coach Rafiu Salami and Coach Yusuf Abdulkadir".
