Handball: Our target is to win all our matches says Kano Pillars coach

Solomon Yola, Head Coach of Kano Pillars Handball Team on Wednesday said the team’s target was to win all their matches at the ongoing 2021 Prudent Energy Handball Premier League.

The coach said that they came to this year’s competition to retain the title as defending champions.

He said he would be advising his players to continue to play their remaining games with a winning spirit.

“We thank God that the game ended with a victory, we will continue to fight more to win our remaining matches.

“The boys are determined to win the first position in this year’s league. We want to regain our pass glory and lift the trophy again at the end of this competition,” he said.

NAN reports that in the game played at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, Kano Pillars defeated their Tojemarine Academy of Lagos in their sixth match.

They beat their opponents 10-8 in the first half and 23-17 in the second half to record their fifth win in the league.

NAN reports that Kano pillars played six matches, won five and drew one.

They defeated Confluence Stars of Lokoja 29-26 in their first match and drew 22-22 in their second match against Defenders.

They beat Kada Stars of Kaduna 26-15 in their third match, defeated Lagos Seasiders 23-20 in their fourth match and also beat Safety Shooters 23-21 in their fifth match

NAN reports that reports that Kano Pillars have 11 points so far.

The coach of Tojemarine Academy of Lagos, Bright Agubata, said that Kano pillars defeated his players based on experience.

“It is a team I have played for, some years back. I played for Kano Pillars in year 2003-2004.

“They have a good coach and they have a set of experienced players. This is just the first appearance of my team.

“The margin was not too much, they only defeated my players with two points difference in the first match and the final game by six points,” he said.

NAN reports that Tojemarine Academy played six matches, lost four, won one and recorded one walk over.

Tojemarine Academy defeated Rima Strikers 24-23 in the first game and lost 21-27 to Confluence Stars in their second match.

Their third match was a walk over against COAS Shooters.

They lost 19-24 to Safety Shooters in their fourth match and also lost to Lagos Seasiders 27-34 in their fifth match

NAN reports that a total of 21 teams, comprising 10 female and 11 male teams, are participating in the premier league.

The league will end on Nov. 3
