Karu Command wins Police Inter soccer competition

Karu Area Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police Lekan Odumosu has dedicated their victory at Inter Area Command police soccer competition to hard work on behalf of his boys just as he promised to retain the trophy next season.

Karu Area Command defeated Metro Command 1-0 at the weekend to win the inaugural soccer competition initiated by the FCT Commissioner of Police as part of the efforts to keep members fit and cement relationship.

Speaking after the match Odumosu said the victory was as a result of good preparation and hard-work.

"This game is important because it helps to keep our personnel in shape for their duties. I think it is good for Policing. Sporting and Policing goes side by side, it also keeps their system perfect and healthy. If you are Sportsman, you will be a better Police Officer. So as a Policeman you need strength to and intelligent to perform your duties," he said.

Also speaking after the match the loser's Command, Assistant Commissioner Nurudeen Sabo Metro boss, said they would go back to the drawing board to adopt a new strategy for the next competition.

He said it is not all about winning but to cement relationship and create friendship amongst the Police from various Commands in FCT.

"It is about you lose some and win some and not about win at all cost. The new IG said he did not want the Police that will be docile and carried away with official work and that is why he wants his men and women to be engage in sporting activities," he explained.
