The Confederation of African Football (CAF) says its 2022/23 interclub competition would kick off on September 9.
CAF made the announcement in a statement posted on its official website, cafonline.com, on Wednesday.
“The 2022/23 season will kick-off on Friday, 09 September 2022 with the preliminary rounds of both the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup,” CAF said.
The continent’s football governing body said in the TotalEnergies Champions League, that 58 clubs will be slugging it out to try and dethrone African champions Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco.

The first leg of matches of the first preliminary round will be played from Sept. 9 to Sept. 11, with the return matches scheduled to be played a week later.
