Alhaji Haruna Pambeguwa, National Chairman, Amana Farmers and Grains Association of Nigeria, on Sunday, warned members of the association against hoarding grains.

Pambeguwa, who gave the warning in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Damaturu, said hoarding was the major cause of hike in prices of grains in the country.

“ The astronomical hike in prices of farm produce, even at harvest time, was a matter of great concern to this association.

“ I charge our members to engage in all transactions with a high sense of responsibility, as anyone found wanting would be sanctioned,” he said.

The Chairman said he was in Damaturu to interact with members, to identify their challenges and proffer possible solutions to them.

Pambeguwa, however, called on the state and Federal Government to ensure that agricultural interventions targeted genuine farmers.

He said if genuine farmers were supported, the cost of production would reduce and farm produce would become affordable to all.
