The Governing Council, Federal Polytechnic Wannue, on Tuesday promised to revolutionised the institution to deliver quality education.
Chief Michael Msuaan, the Chairman stated this at the Councils’ inaugural meeting in Wannue, Tarka Local Government Area of Benue.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the other Council members are Dr Christopher Akpan, Mrs Lola Sesay, Mrs Folashade Ogunbiyi and Mr Abu Lewani.
Msuaan said the council has resolved among other things, to ensure that the President’s vision to revolutionalize the education sector as encapsulated in his Renewed Hope Agenda policy document was achieved.
“Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in our institution’s journey, a chapter that promises growth, innovation, and excellence.
“As a pioneer member of the Council representing the North Central Zone in the previous administration, I am not unaware of the growth and challenges of this Federal Polytechnic.
“Our primary objective as the governing Council is to ensure that the Federal Polytechnic remains a beacon of academic excellence and a hub for technical and vocational education,” he said.
Msuaan said the council has resolved to ensure good management, healthy growth and development of the institution by insisting on best practices and due process.
The Chairman said they would also ensure that the school delivered quality education to her students in a very condusive environment as done worldwide.
“We must strive to provide our students with a world-class education that equips them with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
“This includes updating our curriculum, investing in modern teaching tools, and ensuring that our staff are well-equipped to deliver high-quality education in line with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

“We must support our staff in their research endeavours and create an environment that nurtures creativity and critical thinking.
“It is imperative to provide a conducive learning environment, we must invest in the development and maintenance of our infrastructure. This includes modern classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, and comfortable accommodation facilities for our students and staff.” he said
Msuaan said the council would also collaborate with Tertiary Trust Fund (TEDFUND), development partners, organisations and public-spirited individuals for the infrastructural development of the institution.
“As members of the Governing Council, we must uphold the highest standards of governance and accountability, Transparency, integrity, and ethical behaviour in all our actions and decisions.
“We recognize the invaluable role that unions play in advocating for the welfare of members and the overall development of our polytechnic. We are eager to work closely with you to address any concerns, enhance our educational standards, and ensure a supportive and productive work environment for everyone,” he said.
He promised to improve on the already cordial relationship between the school and the host community by improving on their cooperate social responsibility.
Msuaan also said they were satisfied with the pace of development at the institution, having been established four years ago.
He commended the President for appointing them to oversee the affairs of the institution and particularly thanked the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen George Akume for nominating him to the council.
Earlier, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Tyover Ashinya, said the school which was established in 2020 currently has about 700 students and offers eight programmes.
Ashinya, who said the school was currently understaffed to fully carryout its programmes, appealed to the government for additional staff to bridge the gap.
The rector said that since his assumption of office, about 60 staff had undergone training and workshops, both within and outside the country for effective service delivery.
