The Federal University Dustin-ma (FUDMA), Katsina State, has pledged to collaborate with the Women’s Right Advancement and Protection Alternative (WRAPA) to fight against Gender-based Violence (GBV).

The University Vice-Chancellor (VC), Prof. Armaya’u Hamisu-Bichi, stated this during a meeting with WRAPA officials and university stakeholders, according to a statement issued by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Habib Umar-Amin.

Prof. Hamisu-Bichi said that the university would strategically put in place both intellectual and professional modalities to curtail the menace.

The VC, who was represented by the Dean, of Students Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Shuaibu, revealed that the university, through the Centre for Gender Studies, recorded successes particularly in convincing many parents to send their daughters to school.

Prof. Hamisu-Bichi, while thanking WRAPA for considering the institution worthy of partnership, reiterated the readiness of the university to be actively involved in the protection of women and girls against violence.

Earlier, the WRAPA Secretary General, Hajiya Saudatu Mahdi-Shehu, said that the interaction is aimed at safeguarding female students against violence.

She said that the university was considered for the partnership because of its importance in shaping the community and readiness to evolve with changing needs.

“We are set to closely work with the university through the Centre for Gender Studies,” she said.
